After all, a social media post needs different specifications than a T-shirt print or a business card.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1307\" data-end=\"1332\"><strong data-start=\"1307\" data-end=\"1332\">Important to understand:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1333\" data-end=\"1565\">\n<li data-start=\"1333\" data-end=\"1376\">\n<p data-start=\"1335\" data-end=\"1376\">Not every <strong>file format<\/strong> is suitable for everything<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1377\" data-end=\"1480\">\n<p data-start=\"1379\" data-end=\"1480\">Colour modes such as <strong data-start=\"1392\" data-end=\"1408\">RGB and CMYK<\/strong> determine whether your design looks good on screen or in print<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"1481\" data-end=\"1565\">\n<p data-start=\"1483\" data-end=\"1565\">The <strong data-start=\"1487\" data-end=\"1506\">Resolution (dpi)<\/strong> decides whether the whole thing is pixelated or crisp and sharp<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"1567\" data-end=\"1757\">It sounds like nerdy stuff, but it's the be-all and end-all for a consistent \u2013 look and saves you nerves when working with print shops, service providers or online shops.<\/p>\n<h2 data-start=\"1764\" data-end=\"1808\">File formats: Which for what \u2013 an overview<\/h2>\n<p>In design, we basically distinguish between two file formats: <strong>Raster graphics<\/strong>, which consist of individual pixels, and <strong>Vector graphics<\/strong>, which can be scaled without loss.<\/p>\n<h3 data-start=\"1810\" data-end=\"1857\">Raster formats \u2013 for photos &amp; Therefore, all print data must always be in <strong data-start=\"4001\" data-end=\"4021\">CMYK converted<\/strong> \u2013 are ideally already <strong data-start=\"4050\" data-end=\"4075\">before the design process<\/strong>, to avoid unpleasant surprises.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h2 data-start=\"4120\" data-end=\"4162\">Resolution: What does dpi actually mean?<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"4164\" data-end=\"4340\">dpi = <strong data-start=\"4170\" data-end=\"4187\">dots per inch<\/strong> \u2013, i.e. how many pixels are displayed per inch. The higher the number, the <strong data-start=\"4270\" data-end=\"4282\">sharper<\/strong> will be the result.
